Open Book Tutorial

This tutorial is written for PSP 7.  It is written under the assumption you have a good working knowledge of PSP.  This tutorial uses vectors.  This tutorial may not be copied in part or whole.  It may be linked to with email permission.

Start with a new image 400x400 transparent bacground.  With shapes tool, vector checked, antialias unchecked, make a square.

Go to node edit and grab the far left nodes and pull them up to the shape you see below.  This is one side of your book.

Convert layer to rastor and flood fill with R186/G150/B150.

Then go to edit copy, then paste as new selection. Now go to image/mirror and line up the ends to meet as shown below.

Add layer.  Next make a small rectangle with shapes tool set to rectangle.  Line width 2, antalias and vector not checked. Set foreground color to R114/G78/B78 , and make a rectangle in the center for the binding of your book.  Example below.

Add layer.  Next step. With shapes tool set to rectangle, vector checked , antialias not checked, make a narrow rectangle along the first side of your book.  Node edit it to the shape below meeting at the center right on your book binding rectangle. convert to rastor and  flood fill with R237/G234/B225.

Go to edit /copy then edit/paste as new selection , then image/mirror and line it up with the other side of your book.

Your'e done.  If you want to add text make sure and do it as a vector so you can rotate it to the sideways position.  You can also add a graphic of your choice and deform it to fit the cover.
